Mrs. Vencill's 1st graders wrapped up their Body unit in Reading this week by adding digestive, circulatory, muscular, skeletal, and nervous systems to paper bodies. They also fixed "ouchies" by putting body puzzles together. What a fun way to put to paper what they learned! More photos on Facebook!

Today, our Washington Ambassadors had the distinct honor of hosting Mr. Jim Griffin, Curator and Director of the Lincoln County Historical Museum and Society. Mr. Griffin shared the remarkable history of the North Platte Canteen during WWII, highlighting how a community united together to offer kindness, generosity, and hope to servicemen heading to war. The enduring "Canteen Spirit" perfectly embodies patriotism, volunteerism, and sacrifice. Be sure to ask your Washington Ambassadors how they plan to channel this inspiring "Canteen Spirit" into meaningful service projects for our school and community! Our Washington Ambassadors are going to take up the torch and carry it into the next generation!!

Today in Guidance, Washington is celebrating "You Matter Week." We spent time discussing what it means to be a "bucket filler" with our younger students and with our older students, we talked about how to see the value in others and build one another up.
Throughout the week, we are reflecting on the people who love us most - parents, grandparents, family, and friends. By understanding how much we are cherished and noticing the concrete ways loved ones show us affection, we learn how to pass that same care on to others.
Every single classmate is loved just as deeply by their own families because everyone possesses inherent purpose and value. By recognizing that worth in those around us, our students are learning how to be great friends and treat everyone with genuine kindness.
If you want to keep the conversation going at home.. Here are some Family Table Talk Questions:
1. What is one way someone in our family showed you love today, and how can you "fill a bucket" by showing that same kind of love to a classmate tomorrow?
2. If everyone in your classroom was made to feel like they truly matter, how do you think your school day would look or feel different?

NPPHS' Homecoming Parade isTOMORROW!
"Walk with Washington" in the parade to cheer on the Bulldogs! After the parade, there will be a pep rally and firework show. You won't want to miss it!
When: Line-up begins Wednesday, September 9 @ 6:45PM. Parade starts walking at 7 PM.
Where : Line-up is in the parking lot at A St. & Bailey Ave.
Wear: Washington apparel or anything red!
ALL students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the parade.

Learning to read is extra fun and special for Washington's kindergartners when they have a big 4th grade reading buddy! Mrs. Stine's kinders teamed up with Mrs. Kring's 4th graders yesterday and these little readers couldn't be cuter!! We love seeing the big kids helping and inspiring our young Wildcats.
