Washington's 4th graders enjoyed a Soybean presentation yesterday. Their guest speaker was Sharon Ryan of the Nebraska Soybean Board! The Soybean is often called the “miracle crop” because it is the world’s leading provider of protein and oil. Mr. Ferguson's Kindergarteners invited families in for a fun-filled Spring event that corresponded with their "Taking Care of the Earth" unit. They're learning the appropriate steps needed to grow, reduce, reduce, and recycle materials! Compost is FUN! Washington's Kindergarten Round-Up is a Wrap!! Washington had TWO classes earn an Attendance ROCKS reward today!! Miss Clark's 1st graders got to wear their favorite hats to school and Mrs. McIntosh's students got to bring their favorite stuffed animal friend for the day! Each class has an Attendance ROCKS poster in their room. Each day every student in the class is present, they color in a letter. When the poster is full, the class gets a reward!! Our Wildcats are enjoying Mrs. Becker's PE skill of the week by jump roping during recess! Singles, double-Dutch, cross-cross, song counting, you name it! We had a 5th grader set a record of 67 jumps!! #WildcatEra #WashingtonOhana #JumpJump

Washington's Read-A-Thon was a HUGE success!! We love to see our Wildcats taking time to read. Not only is important for children's brain development, it provides access to adventures into new worlds! Congrats to Mrs. Vencill's 1st graders for the most funds raised, as a class! From the desk of Washington's HAL Teacher, Mrs. McIntosh: Today, our HAL students had the opportunity to “Design Your Future”. They worked with KUBO Robots, Problem-Solving Games, Stop Motion Video, Innovator Kits, and OzBots. There were guest speakers from the high school and Bridge of Hope. We are partnering with Bridge of Hope to collect donations for our community service project. Be on the lookout for more information on how you can support your local HAL students. Miss Magallanes and Mrs. Mortimer challenged their2nd graders with a St. Patrick’s day Math Challenge. “The Box is locked!” A leprechaun named Lenny locked a prize inside of a box.
