From the desk of Washington's Mrs. Mortimer, 2nd grade:
Ms. Katherine is in the Para to Teacher program. She has led our Science lessons this week and included some fun activities! Yesterday the students were able to simulate erosion by wind and water and see how it affects the land. I know she'll do amazing things as an educator!!
Way to go, Ms. Katherine!! We love having you at Washington!

Did you know that the month of April is Child Abuse Awareness month? Here at Washington, our HAL team created their very own video to get the word out… How to help, how to raise awareness, and how you can be a part of keeping kids safe! They are doing something special as a HAL group to help. Their contribution, as part of North Platte's HAL team, is the creation of a food drive in support of the bridge of Hope Advocacy Center. If you'd like to join them in their cause, please send your contribution with your children to Washington Elementary between April 13 and 24th. Here are the flyers they created. Please check out Facebook for their video!

Washington's 4th graders enjoyed a Soybean presentation yesterday. Their guest speaker was Sharon Ryan of the Nebraska Soybean Board!
The Soybean is often called the “miracle crop” because it is the world’s leading provider of protein and oil. Today, thousands of soy products are available to the consumer - everything from A to Z. This program complements their Nebraska Agriculture Unit of Study.

Mr. Ferguson's Kindergarteners invited families in for a fun-filled Spring event that corresponded with their "Taking Care of the Earth" unit.
They're learning the appropriate steps needed to grow, reduce, reduce, and recycle materials! Compost is FUN! Take from the earth and then send it back 🌎♻️
What a great way to learn about composting and gardening. Happy Spring!
