Due to current staffing and enrollment, some of our elementary classrooms are at capacity. At this time all kindergarten students will be enrolled in their resident boundary school. This will help maintain manageable classroom sizes that ensure the best quality of education for your children. In situations that alleviate severe family hardships, a Request to Attend form may be filled out, and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Preschool and kindergarten registration will open on December 11th, 2023. To register your child, you may visit the North Platte Public Schools website at nppsd.org, or visit the Welcome Center at 301 West F St Monday - Friday from 7:30 am - 3:30 pm, or by appointment.
Here are some answers to questions you may have.
If I already have a child enrolled in a school outside of our resident boundary, do I need to transfer them? No, that child may remain at that school through the rest of their elementary education.
If my soon-to-be kindergartner has an older sibling at a school outside of our resident boundary, may I enroll my younger child at that school to be with their older sibling? No, your soon-to-be kindergartner will need to enroll at your neighborhood school. You can, however, enroll the older sibling at your resident boundary school.
If we move to another neighborhood outside our current resident boundary, do we need to have our child enroll at the school in the new boundary? Yes, but you may wait until the end of the current school year to do this.
When does registration open? Registration opens December 11, 2023.
When is Kindergarten Roundup? Kindergarten Roundup will be held on March 19th (time TBA).
Where can I find more information about registration and our schools? Visit our website at nppsd.org, or our Welcome Center at the McKinley Education Center in North Platte.
Where can I find where my resident boundary school is? You can find a downloadable pdf of the boundary map at the bottom of the Welcome Center page at https://www.nppsd.org/page/welcome-center
