Mrs Odle's Lifespan Development class did an Aging Simulation Lab in class yesterday. Students went to 4 different stations simulating: Loss of Sight and Smell (tasting saltine crackers with a random condiment on top), Diminished Hearing (watching tv with cotton balls in your ears while getting directions from a friend), Dexterity Issues (opening a medicine bottle and getting out tic tacs), Loss of Touch Sensitivity (wearing gloves to tie shoes, open a change purse and count out change). Hopefully this gave them some insight and empathy for the elderly.
