The NPHS Theatre Department's competition one act, After the War, was an original adaptation of historical fiction author, Tom Palmer. If you had the chance to see the show, you know it was a powerful story of grief and hope in post WWII England as the child survivors of the Holocaust tried to find what was next in their life.
Throughout the entire, Director Brittany McDaniel kept Mr. Palmer up to date on the team's progress and success. After watching one of the recordings of the show, Palmer not only sent it to the survivors who he interviewed for the book (most of whom are in their upper 90's) but he also requested the creation of a special page on his website in order to highlight the production. Now schools all around the world can read the book, watch the show, and perform the play.
"While our bid for state fell short, it feels incredibly special to know that the individuals who lived these stories got to see themselves on stage. And that we played a very small part in making sure what they went through is never forgotten." -McDaniel
