Families, we’ve noticed several students have negative lunch balances. Please take a moment to check your child’s balance and make a payment if needed. If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to call or stop by the Adams office — we’re happy to help! 💙🐾

We’ve noticed a recent increase in disrespectful language and behavior toward staff. Please remind your student that Adams Middle School has a zero-tolerance policy for this. Students who curse at or show disrespect to staff will be sent home.
As the weather gets colder, please make sure students dress warmly — coats, hats, and gloves are important this time of year! ❄️
Just a reminder: students are not allowed inside until 7:45 a.m. when teachers are on duty, and we only bring students in when the temperature is 29°F or below.
Thank you for helping us keep Adams a safe, respectful, and positive place to learn! 💙

💬 1. Ask oddly specific questions.
Skip “How was school?” and go for “What made you laugh today?” or “What was the best part of lunch?”
🚗 2. Find your talk time.
Conversations flow best in the car, while cooking, or during a walk — side-by-side feels safer than face-to-face.
🎧 3. Listen first, fix later.
They don’t always want advice — just someone to hear them out. A calm “That sounds tough” builds trust.
💡 4. Practice Boys Town skills together.
Accepting Feedback: “Thanks for telling me — I’ll try to work on that.”
Disagreeing Appropriately: “I see your point, but can I share mine?”
Making an Apology: “I’m sorry for how I said that — can we start over?”
Modeling these phrases helps them learn respectful communication at home and school.
