Elementary students were recently recruited to the FBI (Forensic Book Investigators), as they worked in teams to solve the mysteries behind damaged books. Examining clues like water stains, scribbles, torn pages, and even possible bite marks, students made observations, drew inferences, and pieced together what happened to each book.
After gathering their evidence, the investigators shared their theories and brainstormed ways to prevent similar damage happening to their favorite books in the future.
Organized by elementary media specialists Nicole Bruck, Andrea Hayes, and Kristin Benjamin, this creative activity is one fantastic example of how they are transforming library time into an opportunity for critical thinking, creativity, and a deeper passion for reading!
