Students and community members looking at fish.

Parents will soon hearing fish stories from third graders as they begin their "Trout in the Classroom" unit. Recently, Jefferson Elementary's third grade has started learning about fish while raising them in the classroom. Monday was an exciting day when members from the community visited and helped students with a fish dissection where they identified parts of the fish, and explained their functions after a presentation by Jefferson third grade teacher, Melissa Palacios. At the conclusion of the unit, classes look forward to releasing the fish they have raised in a local body of water selected by Nebraska Game and Parks.
