North Platte Public Schools Board of Education has voted to approve Policy #6025 regarding student cell phones and other electronic devices. This policy keeps NPPS in compliance with Nebraska’s newly passed legislation LB140, requiring all schools to establish clear guidelines regulating student use of personal electronic communication devices during the school day.
Our policy states students will not be using personal phones during the school day. In the secondary buildings, students can leave their devices at home or follow procedures to check in and check out their phones at the beginning and end of the school day. Communication has gone out to families from building principals, and more information will follow throughout the summer. We appreciate the positive response from the community and support from our parents, and are excited to see the positive impact this policy will have in our schools.
