Today, February 8th, we will be hosting the first of the two spring parent-teacher conference events at North Platte High School. We hope you come up to the school to discuss your child’s education with their teachers.

Our counseling team has organized some additional information and presentations for the evening. Our goal is to create an evening that will inform parents and students about current courses and help plan for the future. The event will begin at 4:30 pm and wrap up at 8:00 pm sharp.

Counselor events for sophomore and junior families:

  • Sophomore Steps to College: Come learn what steps sophomores can be taking now to help them prepare for college as they prepare for their junior and senior years. Sessions will be 30 minutes long and start at 5:30 pm and 7:00 pm. 

  • Junior Steps to College: Come learn what next steps juniors should be taking to make their senior year purposeful and successful as they plan for life after high school. Sessions will be 30 minutes long and start at 4:30 pm and 6:00 pm. 

In addition, our counselors are available to answer any questions you may have regarding signing up your student to take the ACT test. They have resources to share with you in their office area on the second floor. 


The last spring date for parent teacher conferences is April 18th from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. 


Pre Med Club will be having a BLS/ CPR class on Saturday, February 10th from 9am- 1pm in the Great Plains Health conference rooms. Hope to see you there!! Come join us for this experience whether you are in med club or not we would love to see you. 





All boys interested in trying out for the golf team.....there will be a short informational meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 14th @ 2:30pm in the Career Center.  Please contact Coach Kaminski if you cannot attend.





The North Platte High Student Council is hosting a Valentine’s Day opportunity.  For $1, Students can have a bouquet of suckers sent to someone with the message, "I'm a Sucker for you."  Student council members are taking orders during all 4 lunches through Tuesday, Feb. 13th.  Bouquets will be delivered on Wednesday, Feb. 14th during 1st and 2nd period. 


The North Platte High Student Council is also sponsoring the annual Hug-A-Heart Day on Wednesday, February 14th.  This is a free event.  Sign up for the event will take place this week during your Bulldog Time. Students will label, decorate, and wear a heart (provided) on Valentine’s Day.  If your name or the person’s name you are wearing is drawn, you get a prize from the Career Center.




Attention:   All Students wanting to attend the SkillsUSA State Conference need to get with Mr. Foster, or Mr. Zogg.  You must be a paid member by Thursday, Feb 15th to attend.  Go NPHS SkillsUSA!





Juniors! Are you a leader? Are you interested in government, politics, and good citizenship? Do you like to connect with other like-minded leaders? Girls' and Boys' State is an event just for YOU! Girls' and Boys' state takes place June 2-8 in Lincoln. If you would like to know more, please see Mrs. Quiroz in the counseling office. 





Sophomores!  Are you interested in a career in Automotive, Diesel Tech, Construction, Welding, Accounting, Business, Dental Assisting, Nursing, or Paramedics? Are you interested in learning more about what your local college, Mid Plains Community College, has to offer? Join us for a college campus visit on February 28th! Sign up in the counseling office by Monday, February 20th.


Are you interested in traveling to Costa Rica in 2025? We will have an informational meeting for new travelers on Thursday, Feb. 22nd at 6:30pm in Mejia's room (2307). Scan the QR codes posted all around the school to RSVP. 




Reminder:  Dual Credit representatives will be in the Counselor's Office Conference Room every Monday for the rest of the year from 8:00am - Noon.  Be sure to see them if you have any questions about your Dual Credit classes.   In addition to dual credit help, MPCC representatives can help you with general college advising such as seeing if your dual credit college credits transfer to in-state and out of state colleges, seeing if a college offers a program you are interested in, and more.

Interested in attending a college presentation?  See Mrs. Schumacher in the Counselor's Office to sign up!  Representatives will be visiting the North Platte High School Career Center on the following dates:     Eastern Wyoming College - today, Feb. 8th @ 8:00am, University of Nebraska @ Omaha (UNO) - Monday, March 25th @ 2:00pm and Wayne State College - Thursday, April 4th @ 10:30am
