Mr. Adam Reed Career Coach areed@nppsd.org
Mr. Reed is the Carrer Coach and TeamMates Coordinator for the North Platte Public School District. He earned two Associate degrees from the Community College of the Air Force in Electronics and Human Resource Management, a Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management from Bellevue University, and a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
Mr. Reed grew up in Hershey and took a non-traditional path to becoming and educator. He graduated high school in 1995, enlisted in the United States Air Force, and spent 20 years in service to Country. Throughout his career, he has worked in nuclear electronics, was an Air Force recruiter for 15 years specializing in health professions, and also functioned as a training and marketing director for the Southeast United States with an emphasis on leadership development and coaching. When he retired in 2015, he moved back to the North Platte area with his son Aden, who is now a 19 year old Freshman at the University of Nebraska. In his off time, Mr. Reed enjoys spending time with his wife Sarah, hunting, fishing, camping, sports, and hanging out with Aden. Since retirement Mr. Reed spent one year as a Diesel Engine Electrician at Union Pacific and then two years as the Engage (Careers) teacher at Adams Middle School. Mr. Reed believes that attitude is everything, and that you can't be a productive member of society without exhibiting respect and true tolerance. His goal is to help students understand what is meant by "whole person concept." Students must understand that they are not just represented by their grades; rather, they are represented by a combination of every action they take and the words they share with the world, whether typed, spoken, or written. He feels that once each student understands these concepts, they will have a head start to becoming college and career ready individuals prepared to make positive contributions to society.
