Adams Middle School | Math

My name is Georgia “Denise” Flanders.  Although I was named Georgia, I have always been called by my middle name, Denise.  I was born and raised in North Platte, so my roots are pretty deep here.  In fact, I’ve been a part of the North Platte Public School district since I was 5 years old, starting out as a student, (at McDonald Elementary, Adams Junior High, and North Platte High) and then coming back as a teacher.

After graduation I attended Creighton University for one year, but then had to come back and save some money, so I received my Associate’s degree from Mid Plains Community College, a Bachelor’s Degree from Kearney State, (now know as University of Nebraska at Kearney), and my Masters from Doane.

I am married to Jim Flanders who is currently the meat department manager for the Spartan/Nash corporation at Sunmart.  We have 4 boys Hayden, Trevyn, Grayson and Branton all of whom have also gone through the North Platte Public School District.   The last will be graduating in May of 2017.

I started my teaching career at Jefferson Elementary December 6, 1986  teaching 2nd grade.  Two and half years later I took on a new program called Pre-First and taught that for 3 years.  When the program was going to be abolished I moved to Cody Elementary where I taught 3rd grade for 19 years.  I then moved to Adams Middle School and taught 6th grade math for 2 years, then moved to 8th grade where I currently teach math and Algebra.  I am also the Adams Middle School Chess Club Sponsor.
