Lincoln Elementary | Second Grade
My name is Kelley Stahl. I am originally from Wyoming and moved to Nebraska at the age of 13. I am a North Platte High graduate. I have been teaching for 29 years. I received my bachelor’s degree from the Hastings College. My first 3 years teaching were in a one room country schoolhouse west of Tryon, Nebraska. The following year I spent teaching 3rd grade on the Omaha Indian Reservation, in Macy, Nebraska. The past 25 years of my teaching experience have been here in North Platte. My first teaching experience in North Platte was at Hall School. I started there teaching 5th grade and Art for grades 4-8. I did this for 12 years. At that point, Hall decided to departmentalize grades 5-8 so I jumped to self-contained in 4th grade. In 2005, Hall School was assimilated with North Platte Public Schools. I excitedly asked if I could take over 1st grade and given that chance, I spent the next 8 years enjoying every minute as a first grade teacher. After that, I had a couple years of jumping around to different grades. I taught 3rd grade for a year and then my last assignment at Hall School was teaching 2nd grade. My final destination, I hope, is Lincoln School where I am currently teaching 2nd grade, and enjoying the fun of having a teaching partner.
My husband drives a truck as a mail contract carrier. I am the very proud mom of 2 girls, and a proud grandma as well. I love spending time with family, and jump at the chance to travel to see them whenever possible.
I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my desire as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites sharing of ideas.
I feel so fortunate to be teaching my “short people”. I love how honest they are are and I enjoy seeing them blossom as they learn. I feel extremely blessed to be a part of the amazing staff at Lincoln Elementary. It is truly evident each and every day how important the role of the teacher is in the lives of our students.
