Cody Elementary | 5th Grade
My name is Mackenzie Carstens. I’m originally from Grand Island, and graduated from Grand Island Senior High. I received my bachelors degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Early Childhood. My master’s degree is in Administration, and I earned that through Concordia University.
I teach fifth grade at Cody Elementary, and before this I taught in Denver, Colorado. As a teacher of upper elementary students, I try to ensure that children in my classroom feel safe to take risks, develop strong motivation to do their best in school, and challenge their thinking further. I believe that every child can learn and deserves the right to my best instruction. Learners who enter my room aren’t just students, we become a family that trusts one another. I hope that high expectations and learning from mistakes allows students to become their best.
