North Platte Public Schools | Music
My name is Marta Holscher Nelson and I teach elementary music at McDonald and Buffalo Schools. In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I am also the Elementary Music Supervisor for North Platte Public Schools. This is my 28th year teaching music and my 18th year with North Platte Public Schools.
I grew up in Great Falls, Montana, and chose to attend Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska where I earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree. I taught secondary choral music in Hoyt, Kansas; Chadron, Nebraska and Franklin, Nebraska prior to moving to North Platte. While teaching in Chadron, I received a Master of Science Degree in Education from Chadron State College.
My husband is Rick Nelson, who owns Nelson Construction, and I have two grown sons. Garrett Holscher is a welder in Norfolk, Nebraska and Grant Holscher is a senior, education major at the University of Nebraska-Kearney. Both of my boys attended McDonald Elementary and yes, I was their music teacher!
Music is dear to my heart! I believe that every child should experience the joys of music performance. My goals include instilling a love of music in my students and teaching them the basics of music literacy, so they may enjoy music all of their lives.
