North Platte High School | English
Hello! My name is Ashley Werkmeister. I was born in Brookings, SD, and I spent the first ten years of my life in the little town of Arlington, South Dakota. I came to North Platte with my family during my middle school years, and I have been here ever since, which means I graduated and received my high school diploma from North Platte High School. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Education with 7-12 grade endorsements in English and History from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. I graduated with my Master of Arts in English with an emphasis in writing in May of 2018 from UNK, and I am currently working on another degree, this one being Master of Arts in Education Curriculum and Instruction in Secondary Education with a concentration in history, also from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. I love learning.
I currently teach dual credit Senior English and Junior English here at North Platte High School, and I am so thankful to be in the hallways that I grew up in. It has been a great experience. Before acquiring a permanent teaching position in the English department, I was also a substitute in the North Platte Public School District. I also took on a pretty incredible role as the new Student Council Sponsor, and I enjoy working with an incredible group of students who are motivated and love to give back to their community. Working with them is truly a treat.
I am married to Casey Werkmeister, who teaches Dual Credit United States' history at North Platte High School. We have three fabulous children, two boys and a girl, and they are absolutely the best ever.
