North Platte High School | Industrial Technology
My name is Lynn Rinehart, I grew up in Cozad, Nebraska where I graduated in 1974. Work a year, as a carpenter for a local construction compnay, before going off to college.
College for one year then back to construction, switched to manufacturing. Found the lady of my life got married then, decided to go back to college and finish my degree. 1982 Graduated with honors from Chadron State College with an Bachelors Degree in Edcuation majoring in Industrial Arts with endorsements in Coaching, and Drivers Education.
1982 Started an Industrial Arts Program in Genoa, Nebraska, where I implemented Construction,Woodworking,Power and Engergy, and Drafting classes, also served as Assistant Football Coach, Head Girls Basketball and Track Coach, Junior Class Sponsor.
1984 Moved to Alliance, Nebraska taught Industrial Arts, Welding, Small Engines, and Auto 1 Living this close to Chadron allowed me to finish my Masters Degree in Vocational Education.
1985 Moved to Chadron, Nebraska to enable my wife to finish her teaching degree. I found a job with the Forest Service teaching at Pine Ridge Job Corps. I taught Building Maintenance and Forest Fire Fighting techniques. I was also responsible for setting up a clasroom cirriculum for the Building Maintenance Department.
1987 I moved to Imperial, Nebraska to teach and coach. I taught students grades 7-12, Industrial Technology Classes which included, Building Construction, Woods I, Woods II, Welding, Small Engines, and Drafting, Manufacturing. I served as a Head Junior High Football coach, Head Wrestling coach. I served on a number of committees, for the school and local park board.
I really enjoyed serving as the Chairman of the School Improvement Committee, and Curriculum Director for K-12.
2010 I finished my Administration Degree and looked for a Principal Job. Ended up being too old I guess. Still have a desire to do that some day.
Retired from Chase County School at Imperial 2014 moved to North Platte worked for insurance company as an adjustor, subbed for North Platte school system. Then figured might as well go back to teaching, since there was an opening and wife still has a few more years before she can retire.
I enjoy working with young students. I’ve coached or taught since I was 16 years old. I really don’t see myself doing anything else at this point. I still get a kick out of students everyday, I enjoy the energy that they bring to class.
It is my hope that I can enable students everyday to learn something new. To help them find their gifts and purpose in life. To make them a better person each and everyday. To give them things to thing about and not be afraid to go a different direction from others. To let them dream about being something they want to be and help them find that path.
I really enjoy teaching, I miss coaching but not the time that you have to put into it to make a good coach. So instead of coaching I serve as wrestling official for all ages. As I’ve aged I’ve learned that my time it worth something to me and my family. I enjoy spending time with my family, I really enjoy riding my motorcycles, camping, and kyaking down river, streams, or lakes.
