North Platte High School | Special Education
My name is Jacqueline Mraz. I am a 2004 graduate of Hayes Center High School. I grew up on a farm/ranch in northwest Hayes County. My parents still live on the family farm and my mom teaches at Hayes Center Elementary. I am the oldest of three children. I attended Chadron State College for the first two years of my college career and then transferred to the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK). I graduated from UNK in May 2008, with a Bachelor’s in Arts in Education with endorsements in Elementary Education and K-6 Special Education. I completed my Master’s degree from UNK in May 2010 in Advanced Practitioner of Special Education. Since completing then, I have completed my 7-12 Special Education endorsement and Transition Specialist Endorsement. I will be completing my Master’s Degree in Administration in the Summer of 2017.
I was fortunate enough to do my student teaching in North Platte Public Schools and be hired to teach Special Education at Adams Middle School. During my tenure in North Platte Public Schools, I have taught Fourth Grade at Eisenhower Elementary, Special Education at Madison Middle School, and I am currently teaching Special Education at the High School.
I am married to an educator and coach, Ryan, who teaches in Sutherland, Nebraska. We have been married for four years. We have a three year-old daughter, Rylee, and an one year-old son, Jeremiah. I enjoy being able to spend time with my family, whether it be at home or at a wrestling meet, supporting my husband’s coaching career.
I feel my job as a special education teacher is to help prepare my students to be successful individuals in the community after high school. I believe that ALL students can learn, they may just learn in a different way. I have a love for learning and I enjoy being able to pass it onto my students.
