North Platte High School | Special Education

My name is Tessa Matuszczak and I am a Resource 3 teacher at North Platte High School. I was raised in the small town of Silver Lake, Wisconsin. I attended a K-8 elementary school and went to Wilmot Union High School in Wilmot, Wisconsin. I always thought I wanted to be a teacher, and while I was in high school I had the opportunity of being a student aide in what we would identify as a Resource 3 classroom.

I attended Cardinal Stritch University after graduating from high school and received my Bachelor’s degree in May of 1996. My first teaching job was is Kenosha, Wisconsin. I taught Resource 1 students in a co-teaching situation in two different elementary schools for 4 years in Kenosha Unified School District. My fifth year of teaching was in the Franklin Public Schools district. I taught an Orthopedically Impaired Classroom at Southwood Glen Elementary.

My husband and I moved to North Platte in June of 2001. My husband is an Investigator with the North Platte Police Department. We have three children who all attend North Platte Public Schools. I was an in-home daycare provider when we moved to North Platte until all of our children were in school.

I began teaching at North Platte High School in August of  2013. I taught Resource 1 for two years co-teaching in Algebra 1, English 10, Biology and Earth Science. I then moved to be one of the Resource 3 teachers. I am also a Unified Sports Bowling coach for North Platte High School.

I look forward to the challenges that my students present me with. There are no two days that are completely the same. It is a challenge to find ways to engage my students, but when they learn a new skill all the hard work pays off.
