North Platte High School | Math
My name is Tyson Hammond. I am originally from Curtis, Nebraska and graduated from Medicine Valley High School. After high school I attended McCook Community College and received my Associates of Science degree. From there I moved on to the University of Nebraska at Kearney. At UNK I received my Bachelor’s degree in Middle School Education with endorsements in Math, Physical Education, and Coaching. A few years later I earned my Masters degree in K-12 Administration from Concordia University.
My wife, Clancy Hammond, and I have been married for nearly 10 years. She teaches 3rd grade at Eisenhower Elementary School. We have two children. They fill our days with adventure and fun.
I am currently in my second year teaching 8th grade math at Adams Middle School. I spent the previous 10 years at Madison Middle School, also as an 8th grade math teacher. I spend a lot of time coaching. I am currently the Head 8th Grade Football Coach at Adams Middle School. I have spent 12 years coaching football here in North Platte. I am also the Junior Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at North Platte High School. I have spent 11 years as an assistant of some sort within our program. I have also coached Middle School Track for 11 years. I have coached both boys and girls pole vault during this time.
I am very proud to be a teacher at North Platte Public Schools. Our direction is to prepare every student for success through high quality educational programs delivered by highly effective educators who use innovative, researched-based strategies in a safe and supportive environment. We also believe in collaboration with family, businesses, and community members. My hope is to be a positive influence in the lives of every student I teach and coach.
