North Platte High School | Science
My name is Emily Garrison. I was born in Nelson, Nebraska and graduated from Nelson High School in 1995. I earned my Bachelor of Science from the University of Nebraska where I majored in Agriculture Science and Natural Resources. I earned an Associate of Applied Science from the University of Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Veterinary Technology. I continued my education at Colorado State University, earning my Masters in Agriculture with an emphasis in Extension Education. I earned my teaching certificate from the University of Nebraska – Kearney and am endorsed to teach secondary science. Additionally, I have an endorsement to teach K-12 Special Education from Black Hills State University and am finishing my endorsement in Elementary Education through Chadron State College.
I live in Curtis, Nebraska with my 4-year-old son, Stone. Stone attends preschool in North Platte and loves learning! Spending time with my son and our family is one of my favorite things to do.
I have been teaching for North Platte Public Schools since 2015 and love my position as 9th Grade Physical Science Teacher. I truly enjoy getting to know the incoming Freshmen. My passion is to help my students better understand science concepts which occur in the world around us.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with family and friends, hunting and long-range target shooting, cooking, remodeling my home, and taking college classes to continually add to my skill set and my knowledge of science and education!
