North Platte High School | English
My name is Jami Allen. I’m originally from Bartley, Nebraska, and graduated in 2000 from Twin Valley High School. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Language Arts Education 7-12 from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, followed by my Master of Arts in English from Fort Hays State University. I’m currently pursuing my Educational Doctorate with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
I’m married to Kris Allen. He’s a North Platte High School graduate, and currently works as a diesel mechanic at Plains Equipment. We have two children, who both love learning.
At North Platte High School, I teach the senior dual-credit English courses and junior English. I’m also one of the sponsors of the National Honor Society. The mission of our school is to prepare students to be career and college-ready; since my courses focus on effective communication on multiple levels (writing, speaking, and listening), they benefit students at any level with whatever course their lives might take.
As the NHS co-sponsor, I believe students ought to be well-rounded, focusing not only on quality learning but also on being effective leaders, having good character, and understanding the benefits of serving others. It is important that students learn for understanding and understand to improve their quality of life as well as the lives of those around them.
