McDonald Elementary | Physical Education

My name is Linda Stengle.  I am originally from Brookfield, Illinois and graduated from Lyons Township High School in LaGrange, Illinois.  My Bachelor of Science Degree was earned at the University of Wisconsin – LaCrosse with a major in Physical Education (K-12) with an emphasis in Elementary PE and coaching.

I am married to Gary who is a retired parts manager from the EMD.  We have two sons who graduated from North Platte High School.  Steven lives in North Platte and works for Sandhills Distributing as a Salesman supervisor.  Scott lives in Lincoln, Nebraska and works for Coldwell Banker Richard Ellis as a site supervisor.

I am currently a Physical Education teacher at McDonald Elementary School.  Before this position I worked as a PE teacher in North Platte at Eisenhower, Osgood and Lake Maloney.  I started in North Platte as a PE teacher at the two rural districts buildings that were absorbed by North Platte, Hall School and Lincoln County Center (Lake Maloney).   When we lived in Colorado I worked in Jefferson County as a Para Educator and coached many of my sons’ sports teams.  In LaGrange Park and Brookfield, Illinois I taught and coached at Brook Park and Gross Schools for seven years.  I started my work experience at the Brookfield Zoo in the food service department.

The North Platte Public School District is committed to providing a high-quality physical education program for its students.  High-quality physical education instruction contributes to good health, develops fundamental and advanced motor skills, improves students’ self-confidence, and provides opportunities for increased levels of physical fitness that are associated with high academic achievement.  Our program will be developmentally appropriate and focused on individual growth over time.  The ultimate purpose of our program is to equip our students with the skills, experiences and dispositions for active living beyond school.
