McDonald Elementary | 4th Grade
My name is Carla Holmes. I am originally from Moorcroft, Wyoming and graduated from Rawlins High School, in Rawlins, WY. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, from the University of Wyoming, with a minor in Child and Family Studies. I received my Masters of Curriculum and Instruction from Doane College.
I am married to Don Holmes. He is employed by UPRR. We have three children and four grandchildren.
I am a 4th grade teacher here at McDonald Elementary School. Before teaching at McDonald, I taught at Cody Elementary for three years and in Wyoming for three years. Before working as a teacher, I was a substitute teacher and worked as a preschool teacher at a daycare while I was going to college.
For myself, teaching provides an opportunity for continual learning and growth. One of my hopes as an educator is to instill a love of learning in my students, as I share my own passion for learning with them. I feel there is a need for compassionate, strong, and dedicated individuals who are excited about working with children. In our society it is important for students to not only receive a solid education, but to work with others who are aware of and sensitive to their individual needs. I believe I am such a person, and will always strive to be the best educator that I can be. I strongly believe that life's most important lessons and habits are learned at an early age, and students who learn to set goals, take on leadership roles, and appreciate others for the roles they play, will be more successful in life. It is important for students to take pride in not only their own work, but their team's work, and the work of a whole community of learners.
