Kim Flanders, Principal
I have a passion for teaching, learning, and leading. It is a privilege to do all three as principal of McDonald Elementary. Before accepting the principal position at McDonald this year, I served as building principal at Buffalo Elementary and Cody Elementary. These positions were preceded by serving as a K-5 Instructional coach, as well as teaching in elementary classrooms. I had the privilege of teaching in several elementary schools spanning 3rd-5th grade levels for both Kearney Public Schools and North Platte Public Schools. All of these teaching and leadership experiences have afforded me the opportunity to reach, teach, and inspire students, as well as shape my philosophy of education.
My undergraduate degree in Elementary Education/Early Childhood was obtained from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. I also acquired my Masters in Elementary Education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. My administrative credentials were completed through Wayne State College.
Having attended and graduated from the North Platte Public School district, I have a strong tie to the North Platte community. I am married to my high school sweetheart, Brian. Flanders. He is employed by the State of Nebraska as a Probation Supervisor. We have three daughters and a son-in-law. Felix, the cat, and Tucker, the daschund, make our family complete.
It is an honor and a privilege to serve the students, staff, and families of McDonald School where we embrace the conviction that ALL students can succeed. Our mission is alive each and every day as we prepare students to be productive, responsible citizens in a safe, caring, supportive learning environment.
