Danny McMurtry, Principal
My name is Danny McMurtry. I grew up right here in North Platte and graduated from North Platte High School. In 2000 i received my associates degree from Howard College in Big Spring Texas. I then moved on and received my bachelors from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. I entered the education world in 2009 when I took a teaching job in Louisiana. I taught geometry and physical education for 4 years. I then became the assistant principal; a position which I held for 2 years. In 2013, I graduated from Arkansas State University with a masters degree in Educational Leadership. At that point in time, I took the job as principal of Madison Middle School. This is my 4th year here at Madison.
I have been married to my beautiful wife Cassie for almost 4 years now. We are expecting our first child in March of this year. Cassie works for the school system as well. She is a para-educator at Washington elementary where she works with kindergarten students.
Our goals here are very simple in definition. We want to make an impact on the lives of our students. I feel strongly that in order to teach a student, you have to reach a student. Building relationships is the only way that we get this done. I am passionate about this and it drives my actions daily in our building.
