Lincoln Elementary | First Grade
My name is Lynnette Powers. I have been teaching for 29 years. I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and have been a faithful Husker fan since 1981! I have an endorsement in early childhood development and many professional graduate hours. I love technology, music, and literature! 16 years of my teaching experience has been spent in the parochial school system. I taught my first 11 years in Ogallala, NE at St. Luke’s Catholic School in a combined 2nd and 3rd grade classroom. I spent a wonderful year teaching in Lincoln, NE at Huntington Elementary School, and then returned to North Platte to teach 2nd grade for St. Patrick’s Catholic Schools. I have been teaching 1st grade at North Platte Public Schools since 2007 and could not be happier!
My husband works for Miracle Ear and we are the proud grandparents to 4 beautiful and talented children. We love spending time with family, friends and our church.
Young elementary school children are perfect for me! It is my purpose to help each child become a masterpiece of greatness! I try to create a classroom where the children feel safe and kindness is always the rule. I want them all to feel valued, loved, and respected. I believe this must be modeled and directly taught, always focusing on strength and independence as a whole and unique individual. I still experience a passion for learning and it is my goal to spread this enthusiasm to every child entrusted in my care. Gaining knowledge and a confidence to reach high expectations will help my children embrace the joy of learning!
