Jefferson Elementary | ELL
My name is Kelli Spurling. I am originally from North Platte and graduated from North Platte High School in 2007. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Education degree from the University of Wyoming in 2011, with an emphasis in Cultural Diversity. I will graduate with my Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction with an endorsement in English as a Second Language from Doane University in December 2016. In my free time, my boyfriend and I enjoy traveling and spending time with our families.
I am the English Language Learner Teacher and ELL Coordinator for North Platte Public Schools. Before teaching ELL, I taught first grade at Jefferson Elementary for two years, and taught two years at Starr School in Grand Island prior to that.
Our mission at North Platte Public Schools is Student Learning, Student Achievement, Student Success. We want to give students the skills they need to succeed in all aspects of life, now and in the future. The ELL program focuses on providing students opportunities to practice all four modes of language: writing, reading, speaking, and listening; as well as to explore their native culture and the culture of their classmates. By doing this, students can be proud of where they came from, and where they are headed!
