Jefferson Elementary | Title I
My name is Kimberly German. I am originally from Chicago and graduated from high school in Omaha, NE. I discovered my love of teaching during my senior-year Spanish class. We taught Spanish to elementary students for a semester, and I loved every minute of it. However, I was also interested in international business, so I first earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Kansas State University. After working in both retail and financial marketing in Houston, TX, I moved to Germany and earned an M.B.A. in Marketing and Operations Management. My M.B.A. program also allowed me to live and study in Monterrey, Mexico. Teaching was still a part of my life while living abroad because I taught beginning and conversational English as well as Business English at John Deere’s headquarters.
After returning to the U.S. in 2002, I worked in both non-profit/fair trade organizations and property management before deciding to make a career switch to education. I earned a Master of Arts in Education from National-Louis University in Chicago, and I am certified to teach grades K-12. Most of my eight years of teaching experience has been in middle school reading/language arts, math and science classes. I have taught in Illinois, Texas and Maryland.
NPPSD hired me as a Title 1 Interventionist in 2015, and I love my position here at Jefferson. Our teachers are terrific, and I have been able to work with students in all grade levels with an emphasis on reading and math interventions. We want to give our students the best start in life possible, and we know that all of our students can succeed.
When not at school, I love to cook, bake, exercise, read travel magazines and plan my next trips. I only have a few more states to cross off my list, and I am always thinking about my next international adventure.
