Eisenhower Elementary | First Grade
My name is Ashley Melvin. I am originally from Commerce City, Colorado and I went to elementary school and part of middle school there. My parents moved us to North Platte, Nebraska where I completed the 8th, 9th and 10th grade. My father got a job at the University of Wyoming, so we moved again. I went to Laramie Senior High School for 11th and 12th grade and also graduated there with honors. After high school, I applied to the University of Wyoming where I attended my first year of college.
Life has taken me in many different directions. I moved to St. Louis, Missouri where I completed some more of my college credits. I eventually received my Associates Degree from El Paso, Texas when my husband was stationed there. After he got out of the army we moved back here to North Platte, Nebraska where I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Chadron State.
I am married to Trevor Melvin. He is employed at the Union Pacific Railroad as an F & O. We have one child, named Jayden, who will be four in January. We also have two pets. We have a dog named Marley and a cat named Tiger the kitty cat.
I am a first grade teacher at Eisenhower Elementary. This is my first year teaching. I love teaching the younger grades. They are so full of imagination and creativeness. Before getting my degree as a teacher I was a stay at home mom. I also was working towards a degree in criminal justice to work with troubled kids. I eventually figured out that, that was not the path for me but still had the passion to work with children, which lead me to become a teacher.
I enjoy scrapbooking and cooking/baking. I also enjoy making crafts with my son. I also love playing sports. I play co-ed softball and volleyball during the summer and fall.
