Dan Twarling began his teaching career at Millard Lefler Junior High in Lincoln Nebraska. After teaching Speech, Drama and Journalism for two years he moved to Lincoln East Jr.-Sr. High School as director of the theater department. His first administrative position was at Madison Junior High in North Platte as Vice-Principal. After one year he moved to Auburn High School as principal and served for 8 years. Dan then moved to Holdrege Nebraska and served as high school principal for nine years. In 1998 he moved to North Platte as high school principal and served in that capacity until becoming the Associate Superintendent for the North Platte Public Schools in 2004.
Dan has served in numerous leadership roles. He has been President of the Nebraska Speech/Theater Association and the Nebraska Association of Secondary School Principals. He served a four year term on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Secondary School Principals.
Dan has been awarded the Young Speech Teacher of the Year, the Principal of the Year in Nebraska, Distinguish Service Award by the Nebraska Association of Secondary School Principals, and the Outstanding Administrator Award by the Speech Communication Association.
Dan and his wife Bette have four grown children and one granddaughter.
