Adams Middle School | Social Studies
Hello, my name is Ruth Meyer. I grew up in Maxwell, Nebraska and graduated from high school in 2006. I attended college at the University of Nebraska Kearney and graduated with honors in 2010 and received my Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education with endorsements in History and Health. While in college, I was accepted into the History Honor Society, Phi Alpha Theta, and had the opportunity to attend and present at regional historical conferences. In 2016, I received my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in History from the University of Nebraska Kearney.
I am married to Dustin Meyer. My husband works for the family business, Meyer Creative Print and Design, as a graphic designer. We have one daughter, Millie.
I have been a part of the North Platte Public School district since 2011 when I began teaching at Adams Middle School. I taught 6th grade Geography and Ancient Civilizations for four years before transferring to teach 7th grade American History. In addition to teaching, I have also coached middle level volleyball, track, and quiz bowl.
As our directive states, I strive to prepare all of my students for success using a variety of research based teaching techniques. I ensure that my classroom is a supportive and safe environment to give students the best opportunities as possible. I believe in the importance of getting to know my students as individuals so that they feel cared for. As a school, and as an educator, we also believe in collaboration with families and businesses. North Platte School District is a great school system and I am proud to be a part of it.
