My name is Janet Henne (Smith) and I am currently an 8th grade resource teacher at Adams Middle School. I have been teaching in the special education field for 22 years and have been in 6 different districts and 11 different schools. I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings. but have been in the North Platte school system for the last 11 and 1/2 years.
I was born and raised in Nebraska. I lived in Litchfield, Nebraska until the age of 12 when my family moved to the Kearney area. I attended Kearney Junior High then transferred to Amherst for high school. After graduating from Amherst in 1985, I attended Kearney State College where I received my BA in Elementary Education with and endorsement in Special Education in May of 1990. In 2002, I added a Driver Education endorsement and in December of 2009, I received my Masters in Special Education. I will graduate from UNK in May of 2017, with my second Masters in Special Education with an emphasis in Assistive Technology.
I married Jeff Henne in August of 1992 in Ainsworth, NE. We have five children, 1 girl and 4 boys. The youngest will graduate from high school in May of 2017. I now have 4 grandchildren, 1 girl and 3 boys and expecting the arrival of the 5 grandchild in June.
