Adams Middle School | Literacy

My name is Jana Evans. A Nebraska native, I have resided in North Platte for most of my life. I graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney with degrees in business and education. During this time, I married and was blessed with four children. One divorce later, I was lucky to be hired to teach at two of our elementary schools, Cody and Jefferson. Remarrying, I found myself living in Hayes Center and helping to raise my four and my husband’s three, children. Driving sixteen miles down the road to Palisade, I taught in that rural Nebraska community for nine years. My husband, Jack Evans, and I returned to North Platte at that time. For nineteen years, Jack has been the Service Manager at Plains Equipment, the John Deere Implement, and I have and still do teach literacy to 8th graders at Adams Middle School. Jack and I have been happily married for over 26 years. As a teenager, I wasn’t a nerd, a jock, a rebel, or a preppy. I struggled to figure out who I was, but in my journey I discovered that I was not alone, and that my future could be whatever I choose to make it. My mission is to build positive relationships with those around me, to prepare students to be college and career ready, to promote quality in all that I am a part of, and to make a difference in the lives of others.
