National Honor Society

The Purpose of National Honor Society (NHS) is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of secondary schools.  Students are selected for membership by a faculty committee.  In order for a student to apply for membership into NHS they must have:

  1. At least a 3.6 cumulative GPA
  2. Been involved with 1 school activity their 9th grade year
  3. Been involved with 2 school activities their 10th grade year
  4. Been involved with 2 school activities their 11th grade year
  5. Give 4 specific examples each of leadership and service
  6. Have two teacher recommendations and one community recommendation
  7. Completed NHS application
  8. No significant violations of school rules or criminal laws, including misdemeanors
  9. Been involved with community activities

The North Platte High School NHS annual blood drive consistently is one of the largest in the state! National Honor Society students also work together with the American Heart Association to raise funds and awareness for heart disease research through the Red Out Campaign. NHS students are future community leaders!
