From the Principal's Desk - December 2017
The month of December is moving very quickly for all of us and winter break will be upon us sooner than we expect. As the weather has definitely changed, we will still continue to walk outside before school if the temperature/wind chill is 15 degrees or above. Please remember that staff will not be on duty until 7:45 am. Students arriving before that time will not be supervised and not be able to get into the building without prior arrangements. When the temperature/wind-chill is below 15 degrees, the first door that will open will be the door by Mr. Jorgensen’s gym/east playground, which will open at 7:45. At 7:50 the door by the drive through (1st Grade) and the door in the east gym will open.
On a final note, please be cautious when picking up your children at the end of the day and please follow all traffic regulations. I have asked our local authorities to increase their patrol during drop off and pick up in order to ensure appropriate traffic regulations are being followed. Our crossing guards are doing an excellent job, please be patient and courteous when they are working the intersections.
I also want to remind everyone of the “DARE to Go 5 Below” attendance initiative that the district has implemented. Showing up for school has a huge impact on a student’s academic success. Even as children grow older and more independent, families play a key role in making sure students get to school safely every day and understand why attendance is so important for success in school and life. Please make every effort to get your child to school regularly and on time. Research shows that it does make a difference!
