Patrons will receive a census questionnaire in the mail.
Please complete and return per directions.
1) If you have no children between the ages of 0-20, please
dispose of the mailing. There is no need to return it.
2) We would like you to list all your children from birth to Age 18
on post card.
3) This is a new procedure to collect census information.
The following are quotes taken directly from the census laws: "79-528 (1)(a) On or before July 20 in all school districts, the superintendent or head administrator shall file with the State Department of Education a report under oath showing the number of children from five through eighteen years of age belonging to the school district according to the census taken as provided in sections 79-524 and 79-578." "79-528 (4)(a) On or before October 15 of each year, the superintendent or head administrator of each school district shall deliver to the department the fall school district membership report, which report shall include the number of children from birth through twenty years of age enrolled in the district on the last Friday in September of a given school year." "79-528 (1)(f) The board of any district neglecting to take and report enumeration shall be liable to the school district for all school money which such district may lose by such neglect." "79-528 (4)(c) When any school district or learning community fails to submit its fall membership report by November 1, the commissioner shall, after notice to the district and an opportunity to be heard, direct that any state aid granted pursuant to the Tax Equity and Educational Opportunities Support Act be withheld until such time as the report is received by the department."
