What is transition?

Transition refers to the period of time when a student is preparing to leave school and enter the adult community. It is the bridge between the security and the structure of school and the opportunities and risks of adult life. Nebraska State Law mandates that transition planning must be implemented for all students enrolled in Special Education by age 16 to ensure that students have the skills necessary to live and work in the community.
