I was born and raised in North Platte, NE. My father was an engineer for Union Pacific Railroad and my mother worked for ESU 16 as an aide. Both were very hard working people.
I graduated from North Platte High School in 1974 and attend Mid Plains Voc Tech for a short period.
I have two children, Alisha Maldonado and Taylor Skala. These two are one of my highest achievements as they have turned out to be wonderful human beings. Alisha was just married last spring and Taylor graduated from North Platte High School in May of 2007. He is looking towards also working for the Union Pacific Railroad.
At age 41 I returned to college for not any single purpose other than to learn all and anything that I could learn. My major was criminal justice and psychology but all learning inspired me. I graduated from Mid Plains Community College in May of 2000.
Today I am manager of Hometown Cash Advance. A small delayed deposit service on the north side of North Platte. I was raised on the north side and I think sometimes my heart is still there.
Currently serves as the North Platte Public Schools Board of Education Secretary.
